South Devon Excellence Awards

November 2010

Out of all the companies who applied in South Devon, we were selected as a joint Runner-up in not one, but two categories in this year’s South Devon Business Excellence Awards - for Best Social Enterprise and also Best New Business.  We were proud to be one of only two companies to be shortlisted in more than one category. We would like to congratulate Breakthrough Plus and Secure Force UK for winning their awards and wish them every success in the future.

October 2010

Having seen the pride our staff and service users expressed when we were nominated for the HSBC award this year and having national recognition for our organisation, we thought this would be an opportunity to show the local community how proud we are of our achievements. We have been shortlisted to make the final 3 companies in the categories for 'Best Social Enterprise' and 'Best New Company'. We look forward to attending the awards dinner on the 18th November at South Devon College and finding out if we were successful in being named winners in either category. See our write up in the Herald Express online.

We are proud to announce that Jessica Scott, a member of our team has been shortlisted for the finals of the Home Care Worker Award in the Great South West Care Awards 2010. She will now go forward to a judging panel to be interviewed in Bristol in early October 2010 and from that they will decide the winner.

Jessica has shown herself to be one of the most caring and competent individuals we have ever encountered and wish her every bit of success in the rest of this award process.

HSBC Start Up Stars

September 2010

We have now been informed of the result of the regional finals for this award. Unfortunately we didn't win and won't be going forward to the national finals. However, at least we lost out to a company who are trying to improve the environment.

August 2010

In May this year we were nominated for a national award for new businesses. We are pleased to announce that we have been chosen as one of 60 national finalists and one of 12 regional finalists. In September the judging panel will announce each of the 10 regional winners from around the UK who will go forward to the national finals in London in October. We are very proud of our achievements over the past 2 years and hope that this will help to raise the profile of community care and show that quality can be at the heart of a service. Thanks to everyone for all their support!

CQC

September 2010

We have been notified that we have been granted registration under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 under the Care Quality Commission to continue to provide both domiciliary and nursing services under the titles of Personal Care and Nursing Care. Our Official service types are now Domiciliary Care Agency and Community Health Care.

14 June 2010

The Care Quality Commission requires that all existing services re-register in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008. We have completed our application for this process and submitted it today! This process will not affect the delivery of our service in the immediate future and all activities will continue as they presently do. We hope to hear from the CQC over the next couple of months and will keep you updated on our progress.

09 March 2009

We have recently received our first CQC inspection. Our star rating is 2 stars (out of a maximum of 3) which is the best that can be achieved in the first inspection. This inspection provides a detailed report of what we do well and how we can improve in the future. We aim to continually improve our service for the benefit of clients, staff and those organisations with whom we work to provide the best service we can. Please see the inspection reports here:

Domiciliary Care

Update - March 2010: We have now received our first annual service review with a glowing report. We aim to continue to improve the service we offer and would like to thank all those who support us to maintain a good service.

We've Moved!

July 2010

We are now working from our new offices at Lymington Road in Torquay. We welcome anyone to drop in and have a chat and a drink with us. While we aim to have the office manned between 0800 and 1700 each day, this is not always possible as all staff who work in the office also undertake full care duties. If anyone would like to ring ahead and make an appointment to meet with us though we will be able to organise a suitable time to meet. We are more conveniently located and easier to access than our previous office. It is also a much nicer space to come and sit down and have a chat with our friendly team. As well as being a base for our community health and social care services (domiciliary & nursing care), it also serves as a clinic space where a range of complementary healthcare practitioners can work from. We look forward to welcoming people into our new home!

22 April 2010

Our new offices are starting to take shape! We have done everything we can to make the space as energy efficient as possible to try to reduce our carbon footprint as an organisation. As we produce a lot of carbon by the amount of driving we have to undertake in order to access the community setting, we feel it is important to limit our environmental impact wherever possible. Now that all the major structural and building works are complete, we will be starting to make the space functional and pleasing to be in. Who hope to be in a position to receive guests over the next 6 weeks.

22 February 2010

As from 19th March 2010, we will no longer be based out of the South West Inovation Centre at Vantage Point. We will be moving to new premises in Lymingotn Road, Torquay (Please take note of our new address at the bottom of this page). We hope that this will make it easier for people to pop in and see us as it is a more accessible location. Although some of our contact details will change in the next few weeks, due to refurbishment of the offices we will not be in a shape to receive visitors for a few months. Watch this space for further details.
